Investment casting is a precision metal casting process that creates intricate parts using a disposable ceramic mold made from a wax pattern. Also known as the lost-wax process, it involves creating a wax replica, coating it in a ceramic shell, melting out the wax, and then pouring molten metal into the hollow mold. After the metal cools, the ceramic shell is broken away to reveal the final part. This method is ideal for producing complex shapes with high dimensional accuracy and fine surface finishes, and is used in industries like aerospace, jewelry, and medical devices.
